As part of the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Equities Middle Office Strategic Initiatives Group, you will serve as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team whose mandate is to deliver industry leading Front to back process and technology solutions. Acting as a change agent, you will manage a variety of value-driven initiatives at every phase of the project life cycle. Use your knowledge of processes and best practices within technology (application integration / application development), Finance/Middle Office Operations and project management to assist in the identification, assessment and resolution of complex issues/problems. Assist in setting and executing the vision for Equities support functions. As a leader in the group you will capitalize on current momentum on Equity controls, front-to-back initiatives and be accountable for driving change and seeing successful implementation of solutions.

Department summary:
The mandate of the Global Equity Strategic Initiatives & Finance Integration team is:

  • To own all change activities relating to the Equity middle office, be they transition, process optimization, revenue generation or cost reduction.
  • To work across Lines of Business to harmonize operational controls, sub-ledger, P&L Reporting and touch points with regulatory and risk partners.

The team work on all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through post-live control and partners closely with the Front Office, line Middle Office, Operations, Risk and Finance to deliver optimal business solutions.

The ideal candidate has a background in consulting and program management, with strong PMO and planning skills. He/She is motivated to promote change, manage initiatives and build business solutions. Using their project management skills they will influence business decisions and work dynamically with others to develop and implement the road forward.

Job Responsibilities:
As Vice President, Global Equities Strategic Initiatives, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Partner closely with Equity Middle Office, Finance, Operations and COO teams (including Sr. Management) and Technology Partners to define/re-define business processes and implement related technology solutions.
  • Candidate will have the opportunity to manage medium/large sized change projects within Equity Support areas.
  • Responsible for leading/managing full project lifecycle from the definition of business requirements and processes through to systems development, testing and implementation.
  • Will be expected to create conceptual designs (business process and technical) and translate business priorities and requirements into actionable, structured, project plans.
  • Communication skills will be heavily utilized in forming and communicating a change agenda and gaining stakeholder buy-in.
  • Use your knowledge of processes and best practices within technology (application integration / application development), Finance/Middle Office Operations and project management to assist in the identification, assessment and resolution of complex issues/problems.
  • Manage a team that is accountable for the success of small projects/portions of large projects, manage projects deliverables, status and issue tracking, and the relationship with all partners to the project.

Manages a team of individuals typically >4 direct reports. Accountable for the the success of small projects or sections of larger ones. Responsible for the quality and timeliness of all project deliverables and well as the implementation of relevant project management practices (status reporting, issue tracking etc). Day to day responsibility for managing the project with line, technology and other partners. In depth product experience & knowledge of financial instruments accounting and transaction lifecycle, and strong project and program management skills required. May be responsible for staffing, performance management and compensation decision making. BA preferred or substantially equivalent experience. Typically 7-10 years of applicable experience.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • College Degree required.
  • Former consulting background from top 5 organization, highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead and drive change. Strong collaboration and relationship management skills. High sense of urgency with ability to drive results.
  • Project/Program management capability. 6+ years performing business analysis/definition and Program Management to support large projects and business change.Experience in full project lifecycle management. Have proven requirement and process definition and documentation skills, with ability to handle diverse workload and tight schedules. Ability to drive to closure, reputation for execution. Strong Risk assessment, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong Understanding of financial processes. Ability to articulate full product life cycle and understanding Trade lifecycle. Experience in Middle Office/Finance/Operations re-engineering initiatives. Understanding of business unit control functions and corporate reporting. Must have ability to apply strategic thinking to multiple, complex organizational and business issues, ability to translate into practical plans for project execution. Broad business experience in defining business and systems requirements for Corporate-wide applications.
  • Previous experience in systems development . Equities, Derivatives or related experience a strong plus. Ability to architect business and software solutions and define related requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills. Ability to bridge communication amongst technologists and between Analysts and Technologists. Ability to work across business groups and in a team environment.
