Julie Spellman Sweet will be joining Accenture as the general counsel, chief compliance officer, and secretary of the company effective March 22, 2010. She will be reporting to William D. Green, Accenture chairman & CEO, and will also be a part of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. Ms. Sweet, 43, joins Accenture from the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. She had been a partner in the firm’s corporate department for the last ten years.
Ms. Sweet was preceded by Douglas G. Scrivner, who was performing as the general counsel for the last 14 years. Mr. Scrivner will work with Mr. Green after Ms. Sweet joins the organization so that he can help her out with a smooth transition for the role.
Ms. Sweet had joined Cravath in 1992 and became a partner in 2000. She is a prominent and devoted attorney with significant global experience. She has also worked closely with various public companies on a wide variety of matters ranging from working at the board, with the CEO and general counsel levels on a global basis. She spent substantial time working in China, Europe and elsewhere in her professional career and also speaks Mandarin.

Ms. Julie Spellman Sweet has received her undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College, and has graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1989. She received her J.D. from Columbia University Law School. She was recognized as one of the “Dealmakers of the Year” for 2006 by The American Lawyer, and was also recognized in 2007 and 2008 as one of the top 500 leading lawyers in America, by Lawdragon magazine and in 2009 by The Legal 500 for her work in capital markets equity offerings.
