The Senior Accountant position is a highly visible member of the Revenue Team responsible for various forecasting and accounting functions associated with the Company’s approximately $700 million in annual revenues. This position will work closely with the other cross functional members of the Revenue Team, the Government Pricing Team, the Financial Reporting Team, Sales & Marketing and the Senior Manager, Finance to ensure an accurate and timely quarterly close within the 4 day close deadline.

This position will be responsible for the Returns Reserve and Deferred Revenue entries, forecasting, and related accounting memo each quarter. They will also be responsible for wholesaler customer sales reporting and analytics, customer level sales forecasting, revenue accounting for a subsidiary and other accounting entries as assigned by the Senior Finance Manager.

In addition, this position will act as a primary resource for all revenue recognition research. Working with the various finance teams–and with Sales & Marketing–this position will help assess potential programs, and make recommendations for the accounting treatment of those programs.

 

Responsibilities:

• Forecasting and accounting for the Returns Reserve and Deferred Revenue.  This includes the development of a detailed quarterly return forecast, as well as forecasting the impact to the reserve calculation.
• Compiling the sales forecast throughout the quarter based on recent customer and prescription trends.
• Revenue Accounting for a new subsidiary.  This may include lease accounting, coordination with our other sites, and other internal Accounting groups.
• Technical Accounting research.  Based on current and upcoming promotions, conduct research to develop and recommend the proper accounting treatment for those programs.  This will also include assisting with the accounting memos completed quarterly by the Revenue group.
• Reporting and analytics for sales and returns patterns, trends and forecasted projections.
• Other closing duties, and related forecasting, as assigned by the Senior Finance Manager.

Capital One is seeking an individual to lead the development of Capital One’s Basel II operational risk capital models, working within the Economic Capital Group which owns Capital One’s overall Basel II Economic Capital modeling effort.

Specific Responsibilities:

Lead the operational risk modeling team’s development of Basel II compliant Loss Distribution Approach (LDA) models and serve as a serve as a subject matter expert in development of statistical models and distributions to support other areas of economic capital modeling. This effort includes assessing the quality of internal data, incorporation of external data where appropriate, development of loss frequency and severity distributions, and monte carlo simulation to estimate capital requirements for operational risk. This individual will also be called on to establish rigorous statistical approaches to measuring credit loss distribution curves for credit economic capital and to support strategic risk modeling as needed. More specifically:
- Support the company’s Basel II preparedness and effectively execute on Pillar II ICAAP projects pertaining to operational risk capital.
- Support the operational risk data gathering effort with clearly defined data requirements, assessment of current data limitations for modeling purposes, and development of analytical approaches to assess and characterize data quality going forward.
- Lead team in the development and maintenance of statistical loss models for operational risk with a medium term goal of achieving Basel II compliance.
- Provide expert input and support for statistical model development for credit economic capital and strategic risk modeling. Work could include correlation modeling, loss distribution fitting, and Monte Carlo simulation model development.
- Produce written documentation on modeling results for use in model validation and regulatory review.
- Communicate results with business partners to support education regarding risk trends as well as to obtain feedback based on business intuition around results. Summary:
Under general supervision, the incumbent must successfully be able to advise clients in investment concepts in a bank environment. The Financial Consultant must meet production goals that are reviewed on a monthly basis. This individual must hold FINRA Series 7, 63 and state approved Life and Health Insurance licenses. The position requires a person who is diligent and consistent with relevant regulatory guidelines, including but not limited to those of FINRA, the SEC and state insurance departments. The position requires a person who is highly motivated and client-focused. The incumbent works with non-licensed bank associates, licensed bank associates, Branch Management and bank customers.

Responsibilities:
- Meets or exceeds production goals and recurring revenue targets.
- Attends Branch, District and Regional and Investment meetings.
- Conducts and facilitates all branch investment related advisor training for Licensed Bank Associates and Financial Representatives.
- Delivers training and assists with the development of profiling techniques and service procedures and provides mentoring/coaching to Licensed Bank Associates and Financial Representatives in the assigned Branches.
- Develops and implements strategies to prospect for new clients.
- Meets daily with existing and potential investment clients.
- Attends ongoing product training sessions.
- Maintains effective and productive working relationships with Branch personnel, Bank Management and Investment Management.
- Promotes professionalism and maintains excellent client relations at all times.
- Effectively communicates investment concepts to existing and prospective clients, as well as non-licensed and Licensed Bank Associates.
- Submits required investment paperwork, reports and/or documents within specified time frames.
- Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information
- Accountable for all follow-up on any Missing Documentation reports.
- Adheres to all internal and external audit and compliance requirements.
- Ensures adherence by all Licensed Bank Associates and Financial Representatives in the assigned Branches.
- Follows all policies and procedures outlined in the Capital One Financial Advisors procedure Manuals.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

- High school degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

- FINRA Series 7, 63
- State-approved Life and Health Insurance licenses
- 3 years of related financial advisor experience
- 3 year financial services administration
