The digital age is coming at us real fast!
All types of companies are starting to invest in digital marketing over traditional advertising, as trends indicate that consumer highly prefer online news and entertainment through digital mediums.
Digital marketing encompasses the use of any digital mediums to promote a company’s brand. It includes the Internet, television, radio, and mobile for advertising to consumers.
And not only is stuff digital over the PC, it’s also increasingly mobile.
Mobile advertising is hugely popular with the current frenzy over iPhones and iPads, and the upcoming launch of Apple’s advertising platform iAd next month. Digital marketing is great for its real-time functionality, and can be easily be targeted to a specific audience of consumers.
Companies choosing to use digital marketing for the first time are faced with a wide choice of channels for advertising. Regardless of choice, at the end of the day a company has to be focused on the ROI from its advertising efforts.
So it comes as no surprise that many of the Big4 firms such as Accenture and Deloitte (just to take some examples) are already jumping on the bandwagon to provide consulting services in digital marketing.
Whenever there’s a marketplace trend, the firms are sure to sell their expertise!
Accenture provides services to help clients with their digital marketing efforts through its arm Accenture Interactive. One of Accenture’s aims with its Digital Consulting arm is to:
“Help clients transform from fragmented and inefficient to agile and highly relevant. Through our leading-edge approaches, companies can drive superior returns.”

“Deloitte Digital Services will assist clients with developing their business internet presence and the overall digital strategy to deliver on their strategic business drivers.”
Alongside Deloitte Digital Services, the Big4 firm also provides Software as a Service (SaaS) products which clients can pay to use on a subscription basis.
Folks may recall that back in the go-go days of dotcom consulting, the marketplace was replete with specialty internet consulting firms such as Razorfish, Sapient, Scient and many other niche consulting boutiques.
However, with Web 2.0, its taken a different turn altogether, the small shops are just not there in the big picture.
As digital marketing experiences further grows in coming years, the Big Four firms will be sure leading the way to provide relevant and responsive strategies to help their clients maximize their ROI through digital marketing. And help their own ROI too.
