By Rob Starr, Content Manager, Big4.com
The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. Recently, The Dallas office of Deloitte, located at 2200 Ross Avenue, has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Gold level in the commercial interior category.
The Dallas office is Deloitte’s second LEED-certified property at the Gold level in North Texas in just two years. Deloitte University, built on 107 acres in Westlake, Texas, with a learning and leadership development facility of more than700,000 square feet, opened in October 2011 LEED Gold certified.
The Deloitte Dallas office consists of more than 133,000 square feet within a 55-story building. In earning the certification, Deloitte met a long checklist of requirements on reducing energy and water consumption and the use of sustainable materials. Drywall, aluminum frames, doors and ceiling tiles have high recycled content. The materials and furnishings also meet specific standards for compound emission levels.
