Deloitte: Top 10 Ranking On List of Best Companies For Working Mothers
November 14, 2011
Ethan Strassfield, Big4.com Staff Reporter
For the third consecutive year, Deloitte has been named one of the top 10 companies on Working Mother magazine’s survey of “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers,”marking the 18th successive year Deloitte’s has been added to the magazine’s list.
The Working Mother selects its 100 Best Companies based on responses to questions that address such issues as the access and usage of flexible work arrangements, parental leave, childcare, health and wellness support and the advancement of women to all levels of management. Deloitte was chosen for its focus on women’s advancement, flextime hours, paid maternity leave and telecommuting.
Barbara Adachi, national managing principal for Deloitte’s Initiative for the Retention and Advancement of Women, commented: “As an organization where leaders thrive, Deloitte recognizes the critical importance of providing an environment where all of our people, women and men, can fit work and life together.”
“Reducing career-life conflict enhances morale, productivity and retention — and by extension helps us build and sustain a talent pipeline of future leaders,” she added.
Working Mother highlighted Deloitte’s commitment to education and training, and praised the firm’s investments in bold career-life initiatives such as Mass Career Customization and voluntary sabbatical programs.
This commitment is embodied by Deloitte University where the firm is transforming its talent development programs to nurture future leaders and enrich careers, enabling professionals to enhance the complex technical, industry, professional and leadership skills required to successfully serve clients.
Among the programs offered at Deloitte University is WINning new business, a curriculum that provides high-potential senior manager women with the tools to build strong client relationships, powerful negotiation skills, and solid personal brands.
Earlier this year, Working Mother also named Deloitte one of the nation’s Best Companies for Women’s Advancement, recognizing its commitment to helping high-potential women secure the mentoring, networking and professional development required to progress to senior management.
