Grant Thornton Revenues Increase Over 3 Per Cent
February 2, 2012
Grant Thornton saw an increase in business of over 3 per cent for the fiscal year ending September 31st, 2011.
Driven by growth in South Africa, the company experienced revenues of $3.8 billion for the year, representing a 3.1 per cent increase for the year. Expansion throughout Africa thanks to the acquistion of member firms in Algeria and Senegal is expected to help the company grow further, while an increase of revenues in Asia, which grew by 9 per cent is helping it gain a presence in that expanding market. Asian growth was driven by a 20 per cent revenue increase in Australia, Malaysia, and New Zealand, and 19.2 per cent growth in Vietnam.
American growth was led by a 24.4 per cent uptick in business in Argentina. The slowest growth was experienced in Europe, due to sluggish eurozone economies. For Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the company saw growth of just 0.6%, despite African expansion and booming economies throughout the Middle East.
The company also reported that it acquired fourteen member firms in the past year throughout all regions, which improved its headcount by 750.
CEO Ed Nusbaum said that his firm was proud of the strong results, despite an uncertain economic climate. “We knew 2011 would be another challenging year but we continued to invest in our global network through mergers and acquisitions,” he said.
