Barnes & Noble College is searching for Manager, General Accounting to be located in the Basking Ridge, Home Office. In this role the Manager, will supervise a staff of 10 Accountants and oversee the monthly close process, review P/L and B/S analysis and assist in preparation of monthly reporting packages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Oversee Monthly close process, ensure financial statements are in compliance with GAAP Review monthly P/L and B/S analysis, provide commentary on actual vs. budget variancesLead Monthly meetings with business owners, provide accounting / operational supportLead Annual budget/forecast process for various B/S and P/L accounts including Capital Expenditures, Direct and Overhead expenses, provide commentary on variances to Actual resultsAssist in SOX Documentation and TestingEvaluate Control Environment identify weaknesses,, implement change.Assist in preparation of monthly reporting packagesIdentify process improvements to increase efficiency drive required changes

Assist in evaluating system upgrades and participate in implementationManage and Develop accounting staff

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Preferred. CPA or MBA required. Some Big 4 public accounting exposure is a plus. 10 + years of experience supervising a high volume general accounting department. The ideal candidate will have retail or manufacturing industry experience within a Fortune 500 company. Must have experience with GAAP, P/L and SOX. PeopleSoft financials experience is a plus. Outstanding oral and written communications are required.
