Great opportunity to provide significant contributions to a corporate accounting team in the mortgage and loan servicing industry.  Homeward Residential is currently looking for seasoned accounting professionals, preferbly CPA, with Big 4 experience. 

Our corporate accounting team is generally responsible for the most difficult reconciliations, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports in the department. Providing functional advice, and/or direction to other employees within the department

Other accounting functions include: Joint venture and partnership accounting, fair value accounting for MSRs and derivatives; share based compensation accounting, loss reserve accounting, variable interest assessments and consolidation accounting

Perform technical accounting research and document application of technical accounting principles to the new and existing business


Draft and review financial statement footnotes, MD&A and corporate/segment overviews to be included internal and external financial reporting packages as well as SEC registration statements and filings

Prepare and coordinate with joint ventures to meet ad hoc report requests, including review of monthly financial reporting packages from joint ventures

Assists in Sarbanes Oxley testing and documentation

Identifies issues and assesses financial risk/exposure relating to the balance sheet and income statement accounts

Prepares and reviews journal entries, daily balancing, and account analyses as required

Researches and resolves complex problems related to accounting transactions, cash flows, and/or other areas of financial impact

Coordinates with cross-functional associates to address process gaps/breaks and establish 'best practice' solutions

Generally responsible for the most difficult reconciliations, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports in the department.  Provides functional advice, and/or direction to other employees within the department

Job Functions

Qualifications include

Understanding of application and practice of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & SEC rules & regulations

Good understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley, internal controls over financial reporting environment, and SEC forms, 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K disclosure requirements

Strong analytic skill with the ability to perform complex financial calculations

Good understanding of the general ledger and month-end closing process
