To make your mark as the Senior Accounting & Reporting Supervisor, you will:

Supervise staff in the completion of accounting activities for Toyota Motor Insurance Company ("TMIC") and Toyota Motor Insurance Company of Vermont ("TMICV"): (40%)

Oversee the month-end close process:

Ensure month-end data warehouse reports are properly reviewed and reconciled.Evaluate accuracy and reasonableness of financial information provided by business partners.Review journal entries for proper completion and appropriate supporting documentation.Ensure balances reflected in the financial statements are accurate.

Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance. Prepare and distribute various financial reports and analyses to support management decision-making. As business needs continue to evolve, take a lead role in developing, implementing, and reporting more meaningful business measures for the insurance entities.

Prepare information for Board of Directors, executive presentations, and various special projects as requested by management.

Supervise staff in the completion of quarterly, calendar year and fiscal year reporting and financial statements for TMIC & TMICV (30%):

Supervise completion of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements for TMIC:Ensure GAAP balances are converted to statutory balances in accordance with Statutory Accounting Principles.Supervise completion of the annual GAAP-basis certified financial statements and footnotes for TMICV.Assist in coordinating the interim and year-end GAAP audit procedures performed by PriceWaterhouseCoopers for the calendar and fiscal year end audits of TMIC and TMICV. Prepare and review related supporting schedules and documentation as required.Provide information required for periodic regulatory audits and tax reporting. Oversee staff in the preparation of schedules and reports used in completing regulatory filings.

Technical Accounting Proficiency and Subject Matter Expertise (20%)

Determine the appropriate GAAP accounting treatment for TMIC/TMICV products, as well as for understanding and implementing statutory accounting & reporting requirements (for insurance regulatory reporting).Proactively monitor new and revised rulings to determine impact to TMIC/TMICV for GAAP, SSAP, NAIC and State regulations, SOX 404 and Tax.Support business unit projects/initiatives by providing SME for overall business process, internal controls and accounting and reporting issues while meeting all objective due dates.

Special Projects (10%)

Lead the implementation of all special projects related to TMIC/TMICV by providing SME leadership and support as a business partner.Continuously look for opportunities to strengthen and/or streamline existing accounting policies and procedures. Investigate and implement advanced usage of available technology. Recommend process improvements and/or changes in accounting treatment as appropriate.

Supervision/Management:

This position will supervise one Band-3 level associate (Senior Accounting & Reporting Analyst) and one Band-2 associate (Staff Accountant).

Specialized Skills / Knowledge:
 
Software Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Peoplesoft and/or Essbase preferred. Experience with accounting systems and query tools a plus.

The candidate who fills this position will have the option to work a 9/80 alternative schedule which means working 80 hours over nine calendar days, with the tenth day off. The day off will be alternating Fridays.
