Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Senior Technical Accountant at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This position includes responsibilities in several key areas of the Company's Technical Accounting group, including business transaction review, external reporting, technical GAAP research, global SOX coordination, and worldwide incentive compensation, among others.
Principal responsibilities: 1) Assist with the preparation, review and issuance of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP by required deadlines: a. Annual 10-K report to shareholders and the SEC b. Quarterly Press Release c. Quarterly 10-Q report 2) Advise the business on the accounting implications of complex transactions, including the application of revenue recognition, lease, and derivative accounting guidance. 3) Participate in external reporting automation. 4) Assist with the accounting and disclosure requirements for the Company’s cash-based and share-based incentive compensation programs in accordance with FASB Accounting Standards Codification 718 5) Participate in the implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards 6) Summarize emerging GAAP and assist with preparation of comments letters to FASB and SEC on exposure drafts and discussion papers 7) Lead or participate in special projects as necessary
Qualifications: • 3-5+ years Big 4 public accounting experience • CPA • Strong US GAAP accounting theory, research and application skills • SEC reporting experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to work effectively with management and external auditors • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Strong people skills.
