Accenture remains the worldwide leader for systems integration services for the second year in a row. The IDC report titled "Worldwide and U.S. Systems Integration Services 2006 Vendor Shares," is based on the Systems Integration services revenue for the year 2006 and shows that Accenture out-performed its competitors all over the world with around $6.69 billion in Systems Integration revenues.

IDC describes Systems Integration as implementing, designing, project-managing and planning solutions that address definite business or technical requirements of clients. For this report, revenue was counted by IDC as Systems Integration services, and not from computer-aided design, business consulting, discreet information technology consulting, or network consulting. Per the report, Accenture has turned into a trusted consultant to companies at the time when they hunt for strong leadership in navigating the changing information technology terrain.

As noted in the IDC report of previous year, the success of Accenture arises from its huge investment in service-oriented architecture. Accenture, in 2006 announced that it was investing around $450 million over 3-years in service-oriented architecture, which includes a new technology lab for service-oriented architecture innovation.

Kevin Carnahan, managing director, Systems Integration, Accenture said, "Our clear articulation of the SOA vision, our focus on business processes, and our strong partnerships with leading software vendors have strengthened our systems integration market position in direct proportion to the benefits we deliver to clients."

The report further says that in the United States, in Systems Integration services, Accenture jumped to No.2 spot with around $2.74 billion in Systems Integration services revenue. The report also notes that the clients in U.S frequently approach Accenture to get two major helps: growing policies for sustainable systems and mapping their future policies.
