BearingPoint Completes CIS Upgrade Project at Jacksonville Electric Authority

BearingPoint, one of the largest technology consulting firms of the world,
announced the completion of a CIS (Customer Information System) Upgrade project
at Jacksonville Electric Authority - a Florida-based utilities company. It is
the 8th biggest community-owned electric utility in U.S.
JEA, in the year 2006, shifted to a billing system, which would be free of
baseline customizations. The

earlier billing system had vast customizations that obstructed long-lasting
maintenance of products. It augmented functionality, whereas, reduced the cost
of numerous auxiliary applications, like loan billing programs and cashiering.

BearingPoint accomplished a complete study of the utility's Customer Information
System in the year 2006. The Customer Information System is responsible for
meter read data, meter inventory, field orders, credit and collections,
customer management and billing.
Bruce Dugan, project leader for the system upgrade said, "JEA has not had a
major technology project go more smoothly in the past; the updated Customer
Care and Billing application continues to perform even better than we had
anticipated."
Presently, the JEA electric system serves over 45,000 consumers in Florida,
Jacksonville and parts of neighboring countries. The water system of JEA serves
over 290,000 water consumers and around 230,000 sewer consumers in Florida,
Jacksonville service area. BearingPoint, apart from this project, has worked
with JEA on several projects in the last 6 years.
