PwC’s annual Building Public Trust Awards dinner , in their 10th year, and decided by a panel of independent judges, recognised the following organisations:
Excellence in reporting in the FTSE 100 – Fresnillo
- · Excellence in Reporting in the FTSE 250 – Shanks
- · Excellence in Reporting in the public sector (awarded jointly by PwC and the National Audit Office) - Defence Science & Technology Laboratory
- · Toward Integrated Reporting: 10 Year Anniversary International Award – PotashCorp
The event was attended by more than 300 business leaders, senior civil servants, regulators, standard setters and professional bodies.
“I’m sure everyone is very conscious of the fact that rebuilding trust is fundamental to a functioning, fair and successful economy. We also know that trust can only be rebuilt with clear communication, transparency and accountability, all of these key attributes are reflected in the reporting that we are recognising tonight,” said Ian Powell, PwC chairman and senior partner.
He went on to describe a proposed plan of action to help restore trust in business, which would have three elements:
“First we need Government to continue to stand up for business.Second, as business leaders we have to be prepared to stand up for ourselves, our organisations and each other and third we in the professions that support business need to be prepared to embrace change.”
