Description
The role is part of the Sales and Service Strategy team and requires an individual with exceptional project management, organization and communication skills. In addition, flexibility to address the priorities across the team will be essential.
The environment is fast-paced, with work that is critical to the Sales and Service Strategy team. The role requires a well-rounded individual, with the ability to provide strategic direction to projects, peers and direct reports. In addition, it requires the ability to develop and manage project plans, revising as needed to meet changing needs and requirements; leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent; identify resource needs; maintain key project documentation and manage budget and escalate risks / issues as appropriate; and effectively communicate to ensure delivery. The role also requires strong influence skills to effectively drive project / program efforts. This individual should have a proven track record of strong project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work. In addition, very strong communication and partnership skills are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders to manage, inform and influence outcomes. In return, the role offers growth potential and the ability to learn about and influence the dynamic business of the Bank.
Key Responsibilities include:
1) Drive projects within Sales and Service Strategy and / or on behalf of overall Retail, based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed
2) Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation, as well as engagement with governance processes and business case development as appropriate
3) Partner with stakeholders across the bank (e.g Product teams, Training, Communications, Local Distribution, etc) to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
4) Build and manage to understanding of key project / workstream interdependencies and critical path milestones
5) Identify process improvements and / or alternate solutions to support project intent
6) Deliver project and aggregate program status reporting and supporting project communications to ensure awareness of progress and enable escalation if appropriate
7) Forge partnerships where appropriate to enable delivery of commitments; work with individuals within and outside of Sales and Service Strategy (e.g. Marketing and Analysis, Local Distribution, Operations, Legal, Compliance, etc) to drive results
Manage a team of 2-3 direct reports
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree
- At least 7 years of project management related experience
- At least 3 year experience in People management / leading teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA / Masters degree; PMP certification
- 5+ years people management experience
- Banking knowledge / experience
- Capital One experience
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in an unstructured / fast-paced environment
