JOB SUMMARY:
Manage Jurisdictional Correspondence.Lead the defense of State Audit requests.Perform monthly review of & validation of taxability of high value items.Conduct sample audit of business unit taxable / exempt items to ensure accuracy of taxes assessed; take corrective action as required to prevent future overpayments / underpayments etc.Perform historical reviews of Sales & Use Tax payments and identify opportunities to claim refunds.Manage refund claim process.Work with designated external 3rdparties and subject matter experts to identify opportunities to reduce Textron’s Sales & Use Tax liability.Lead special projects as needed.Assist Business Units in resolving Sales & Use Tax related issuesSuper user responsibility for Taxware system and related Sales & Use Tax systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all Jurisdictional CorrespondenceLead the defense of State Audit requests

- Perform historical reviews of Sales & Use tax payments and identify opportunities to claim refunds
- Manage refund claim process
- Work with designated external 3rdparties and subject matter experts to identify opportunities to reduce Textron’s Sales & Use tax liability
- Lead special projects as needed
- Assist Business Units in resolving Sales & Use Tax related issues
- Super user responsibility for Taxware system and related Sales & Use Tax systems
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Problem Solving – This position will be responsible for ensuring that Sales & Use Taxes are correctly and accurately assessed and remitted. This position will be responsible for reviewing historical Sales & Use Tax payments and identifying opportunities for refunds & claims.
- Level of Decision Making – This position will be responsible for tax decisions and determinations for all items subject to Sales & Use Tax based on research, industry trends and changing tax laws. Decisions may impact customers, vendors and tax jurisdictions.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:
- Education Requirement
- Bachelor Degree in Finance & Accounting or equivalent experience.
- Other requirements: IPT CMI designation preferred
- Prior Relevant Work Experience
- 4 – 6 years, Sales & Use Tax experience within a large International Company
- 4 – 6 years, Sales & Use Tax consulting experience with a national firm
- Specialized Training or Background
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize tax research software.– 6 years, Sales & Use Tax experience within a large International Company
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Taxsolver, SAP, ALFA, Lawson, AS400-JBA, Trans4M, Co-op, Taxware, Vertex, Stellent).
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
