The Opportunity  Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting Research

The Sr. Manager of Technical Accounting Research will provide technical and financial accounting guidance to business and corporate divisions and Sr. Level Executives related to revenue, impairments, restructuring, and other unusual non-recurring items. They will report to the VP of Financial Reporting and will assist with complex technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, fair value, income taxes etc.

Key Areas of Responsibility

- Monitoring the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies, i.e. FASB, SEC, AICPA, EITF, etc. and evaluate the effect on the Company. Specific standards include: SAB 104, EITF 00-21, SOP 81-1,
FAS 157  Fair Value Accounting, FAS 142 -Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets, FAS 141 Business Combinations, FAS 109 & FIN 48, FAS 13, AND J.V. Accounting /Consolidation
- Provide technical and financial accounting guidance to business and corporate divisions related to revenue, impairments, restructuring, and other unusual non-recurring items. This includes analyzing the issue, leading the team to a conclusion, and working with the external auditors to ensure conclusion of results occur prior to the financial reporting dates
- Drafting white papers, positions papers on the Company position around technical accounting topics
- Planning, directing and coordinating research of technical accounting issues related to the Company, and discussions with its outside auditors regarding the company evaluation of technically complex transactions; 
- Monitoring and updating corporate accounting policies
- Participating in external reporting and ensuring public disclosure is complete and accurate
- Consulting with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required
- Creating and presenting different training and GAAP update courses to accounting staff and upper management
- Support and assist the preparation of SEC filings, 10Q's and 10K's
- Assisting with various special projects and supporting other Finance functions as necessary


Required Experience/Skills

- Five + years of financial reporting & technical accounting experience (including a solid knowledge of FASB, SEC accounting and reporting matters and SEC and PCAOB internal control matters).
- 3-5 years Big 4 and / or combination of Big 4 / large multi-national public company experience
- Experience researching and developing technical accounting positions

Education
- Bachelor degree from an accredited university with a major in accounting or finance.
- CPA certification required
