According to a study, recently released by Accenture, the technologically savvy clients of the world mainly prefer single-networking solution in order to link up all the automobile digital devices and the portables they have at home. This poses a genuine challenge for the communication carriers.
The study, “Telecommunications Competitive Future Research: A Consumer Perspective,” is based on the review of 600 global customers, who use digital services and devices at a large scale. About 87% of the responders support the fact that most personal digital devices should be networked and 81% amongst them prefer a single point to control all of them.
More that 53% of the people said that the best way to provide a centrally controlled function would be a single vendor approach. About 85% of the respondents feel that customer support plays a very important role while selecting a company to manage multiple devices and services. The respondents are also very much concerned about the security and privacy standards.
According to Andrew Zimmerman, Accenture’s managing director, “Our research found that consumers who juggle multiple devices and data services have already identified the need for a central control function to simplify the management of their personal technologies.”
About 93% of the respondents believe that “green” controls (lighting, cooling/heating) or the energy efficiency shall be networked in the future days. Some of them predict that large appliances, windows/doors and smaller appliances will also be networked in the future days. Zimmerman said, “This compelling new research confirms that trivergence is an important technology trend that is already apparent to tech-savvy consumers.”
The responders also feel that this technology will surely simplify their life to a great extent. Majority of them considered the alternate option to manage connected devices can be website or “soft panel”. They feel that technology companies would be the best to the design and manufacture their digital devices. The responders of India, China and Brazil seem to have the similar crave for networked services like other countries. Nearly 83% of the consumers feel that they can distribute the earnings, in case a company sells out their information for advertising purposes.
The study was based on the review report of 600 technology consumers all over the world. The survey was done in July 2008. It consisted of 100 self-administered online interviews in India, United States, China, Brazil and Europe.
