Accenture Alums Connect at Alumni Events across the US

From community functions to golf outings to networking events, Accenture alums are staying connected as volunteers and participants at many worthwhile events. Let’s journey through highlights of Accenture alumni events held during FY08.

15th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon
More than 600 Accenture alumni, colleagues, family and friends volunteered at the 15th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon. The Accenture teams participated in the largest day of community service in the city to bring Chicago Public Schools to life with new paint and colorful landscaping, help restore community centers and revitalize parks with murals and new gardens.

Sandra Schwan headed the Chicago Alumni team. The team painted, planted, built, cleaned and organized improvements at schools across the city. “The work of our team, plus the many teams contributing to this event, makes a difference to more than 30,000 students. I encourage individuals to consider making a donation of their time, talents or treasures to Chicago Cares, the organization that plans this event and 200 monthly volunteer projects that make a difference in our amazing city every day,” Schwan commented.

NY Metro Alumni Reunite and Reminisce
The New York Metro office hosted the Fourth Annual Executive Alumni Networking Reception. More than 300 alumni executives and active senior executives and senior managers attended the event, which was held at the Kaplan Stanley Penthouse at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Once again, the Accenture NY Metro Office Annual Executive Alumni Networking Reception brought alumni from every area of the organization to connect, reminisce and meet new contacts. This program has become a popular staple for area alumni; as it draws an average of 200 alumni annually. Many believe the reception is an effective forum to connect with other senior-level alumni.

Through events such as this, alumni have built and fostered ongoing relationships and continued dialog with local alumni. These programs also provide a forum to educate alumni about Accenture’s latest campaigns and offerings. In turn, the New York Metro Office sees this event as a strong foundation for their alumni program. Many alumni look forward to this event each year to the extent that many ask about this program before details of the next one is announced.

Accenture Detroit Second Annual Alumni Event
More than 100 former Accenture employees and 15 current senior executives were on hand June 25, 2008 at the beautiful Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI for an evening full of networking and reconnecting, while sharing interesting information about Accenture’s eco initiatives and offerings. Alumni shared success stories and exciting life events and exchanged contact information for future networking opportunities.

During this event, two distinguished retired partners were recognized—Al Cambridge and Bob Wilson who were instrumental in building the Detroit practice. Bob Denner (Retired Partner/Detroit Alumni Champion) provided an overview of Al and Bob’s career with Accenture and shared fascinating stories about their clients and the type of work the two men were involved in during the 60’s and 70’s. Al and Bob were presented with gift certificates.

Dallas Arboretum’s Cool Thursday Concert
The Dallas office hosted a private reception at the Dallas Arboretum’s Cool Thursday Concert series on July 10, 2008. Former Accenture colleagues and Accenture leadership delighted in an evening of good music, good food, and a good opportunity to reconnect with each other.
More than 110 alumni and guests, enjoyed cocktails and hors d oeuvres at this outdoor concert sponsored by Accenture. Attendees enjoyed live music by Christie’s Ex – a Billy Joel Tribute Band, while catching up with old friends and colleagues.

Philadelphia Alumni Cocktail Reception
Over 70 Accenture alumni and current executives gathered in the Philadelphia office for the annual alumni open house. Tom Schwenger, a senior executive from the Products - Health and Life Sciences practice and the local alumni network sponsor, welcomed the guests and provide a brief update on the Philadelphia Metro marketplace and some of the changes and highlights in Accenture s local business.

Throughout the evening, all the guests enjoyed the culinary crepe making demonstration by Chef Ray. Both the sweet and savory edibles were enjoyed by all. The evening concluded with a raffle drawing for some fantastic prizes, including a Tiffany s vase.

Denver Louvre Art Exhibit
As part of Accenture’s three-year partnership with the Denver Art Museum, executive alumni, clients and executives had the opportunity to see a spectacular collection of treasures and masterpieces as they previewed the Houdon from the Louvre exhibit prior to public viewing. Featuring masterpieces from the Louvre s Houdon collection, the exhibit presents the sculptor’s famous portrait busts and statues of philosophers, inventors and political figures of the Enlightenment. Included in the collection are Houdon s Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Morpheus.

Alumni not only enjoyed the private preview and some of the finest cuisine in the city, but they also enjoyed the opportunity to connect with executives and clients. One alum remarked, “The event was fantastic and the artist’s rendering is so realistic, but what really made the night spectacular was the opportunity to see a former client who I hadn’t seen in years. Thank you for the wonderful evening.”

Accenture Chicago Annual Golf Outing
Accenture’s Chicago office held its fourth annual golf outing on Sep¬tember 26, 2008 at the Coyote Run Golf Course in Flossmoor, Illinois. The event—which attracted 80 golfers, including a combination of alumni, current employees and friends of Accenture—was organized with the assistance of Accenture alumni Cheryl Justak, owner of Golf Club Masters, Inc.

Participants enjoyed an 18-hole golf scramble and competed in various contests throughout the day. The format provided opportunities for networking, particularly at the driving range and putting green prior to the shotgun start and at the celebratory dinner. Contest winners were awarded with prizes, including putters, sand wedges and restaurant gift cards.

Retired partner Ron Salvagio (2001) at¬tended this year’s event and encourages other Accenture alumni to participate in the future. "The Accenture Golf Out¬ing was a fun, well organized event,” he said. “It also gave me an opportunity to reconnect with several Accenture people I had not seen since I retired.”
